125th Anniversary Exhibition
We were recently commissioned by Birmingham Hippodrome to help print, frame and install their 125th anniversary exhibition at the iconic theatre. With a wealth of fascinating imagery available and a huge amount of wall space to cover this was an extremely interesting project that we enjoyed being involved with from initial consultation, print, framing, installation and through to completion.

For the old programme covers and entrance tickets the team at the Hippodrome were keen to achieve an authentic and rustic look, so we printed copies on textured fine art paper, then cut them with a deckle edge. We then float mounted them on foam board. The more recent programme covers were printed on a photo gloss paper with a straight edge, to offer a contrast to the older covers.
Many of the sections included framed prints, so we printed the array of images on photo lustre, with sizes ranging from A4 to A2, and then framed in a smooth black wooden frame. Within the Variety section there were two reproductions of posters from over 50 years ago. To display these, we printed at 1300mm height and then framed them.

One of the most striking images was that of the old tower which was a feature of the original building from the turn of the century. To maximise the impact of this, we printed as digital wallpaper vinyl so it covered the entirety of one of the foyer columns.
To tie the exhibition together, we printed signposting text at each section of the display on weeded vinyl. Even whilst we were installing the exhibition we received lots of positive comments from Hippodrome staff about how it had added life to the theatre, and there was a similarly positive reaction from the public.
