The shop was forced to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we continued to trade serving both local and trade customers.
We saw a huge increase in the number of local artists using our scan and print services, with some wonderfully varied limited edition prints being produced.
We started mass-producing picture frames for some local customers, and quickly adapted our framing offering to accommodate the specific needs of these high-volume clients. Dave set up ‘Brand Your Office’ with Jason Boden from Plan B Creative.
Dave moved out of the flat above the shop which was converted into extra space for the business. The framing operation was relocated from Jez’s premises and the lamination equipment helped to quickly fill the space that had been vacated. Eamon and Jorine both joined the business to work part time.
In April 2015 the business rebranded as Precision Imaging, as we wanted people to recognise we offer much more than just prints on canvas. The product range continues to grow, and now includes photographic and fine art printing (including giclée printing), picture framing, pull-up banners, a full copyshop service and much more. Dave also joined BNI St. Paul’s, a networking group which has greatly increased the variety of businesses that we supply.
A young Kerry Smith came to work in the shop, doing part time hours whilst she studied at college.
Dave got the keys for the shop at 4 High St, Kings Heath on 5th September, and after a lot of work renovating the building, the shop was opened on 27th October, 2012. Dave lived in flat above the shop.
Canvas Frames was set up by David Loughran-Smith. For the first twelve months the business was run from Dave’s family home in Sutton Coldfield.
